Migrate your Agents beta configuration from Skills to Rules to continue receiving updates and support. Rules provide better performance, access to more tools, and support for complex logic with resource mentions.
Thanks for joining the Agents beta and sharing your feedback. Your insights shaped the feature and made it more useful for everyone. We appreciate the time you spent testing and providing feedback.
During beta, the version remained stable to ensure uninterrupted service for your connected channels. The official release incorporates your feedback with significant optimizations and improvements. You must migrate from beta Skills to production Rules to continue receiving updates and support.

Why migrate

Skills replaced by rules

Skills have been replaced with , which provide better results and access to more tools. The Rules system has been tested and refined based on beta feedback.
For agents created during beta using Skills, the Skills section continues to appear and work temporarily. You must migrate to Rules soon as the beta Skills system will no longer be supported.
When you remove all Skills from an agent after mapping them to Rules, the Skills section automatically disappears from that agent’s configuration.

Benefits of rules

Migrating to Rules is required and provides significant advantages:
  • Better performance: Refined prompts based on extensive testing
  • Expanded tool access: More available
  • Improved reliability: More consistent behavior across different scenarios
  • Enhanced capabilities: Support for complex logic and conditional workflows using mentions for , , and
  • Ongoing support: Continued updates and improvements to the agent system

Migration steps

Copy skill to rule

For one skill at a time:
  1. Open the skill and copy its prompt text
  2. Go to the Rules section of your agent
  3. Click Add rule
  4. Give the rule a descriptive title
  5. Paste the skill prompt as the rule instruction
  6. Use @ mentions to reference forms, knowledge bases, and categories as needed
  7. Configure any additional rule settings as needed
Migration is a simple copy and paste process. The Rules system supports the same prompt structure as Skills, so you can transfer your existing prompts directly.

Remove the skill

After creating the rule, immediately remove the corresponding skill:
  1. Return to the Skills section
  2. Delete the skill you just copied
Remove the skill before testing. If both a skill and rule exist, you won’t be able to verify that your new rule is working correctly.

Test the rule

With the skill removed, test that your new rule works as expected:
  1. Send test messages to channels using the agent
  2. Verify the agent responds appropriately to different scenarios
  3. Check that the correct forms are selected
  4. Confirm knowledge base retrieval works correctly
  5. Test edge cases and uncommon requests

Repeat for remaining skills

Go back to step 1 and repeat this process for each remaining skill until all skills have been migrated to rules.Once all skills are removed, the Skills section automatically disappears from your agent’s configuration.
